Piano
We emphasize counting, rhythm, healthy technique, ear training, creativity, improvisation and music appreciation. In this way, students build a strong connection to the piano and are motivated to practice more.
Voice
Our approach to voice lessons is based on the Vocal Mastery Method: KTL’s Unique Program for Developing Successful Singers. Our method features healthy technique, pitch matching, sight singing and more.
Ukulele
Students learn the parts of the instrument, strumming and fingerstyle. They learn how to read music with standard notation and tab. We also teach students singing and playing and improvisation.
Strings
KTL strings lessons and classes focus on reading music, learning music by ear, healthy technique and posture, and proper handling and tuning of the instrument. We seek to give strings students the full experience of being a string player with solo and ensemble performances.
Guitar
We teach students how to read music with standard notation and tablature (tab). Students also learn how to sing and play and we immediately instill a sense of exploration by allowing students to experiment making sounds on the guitar.
Drums
The KTL approach extends beyond the basics of drums to includes, drum stick technique, rudiments, standard notation, learning by ear, standard beats, and polyrhythms. We recommend our drum students play with others to fully enjoy their studies.
